Can bed bugs survive on wooden floor. It is not so much the wood itself that is attracting the critters but the bountiful hiding places that it offers. However carpet edges are usually fastened with a wooden strip with nails and these edges can harbour bugs. Bed bugs may infest wood floors if they can find a spot to hide from sunlight. However bed bugs are far more likely to live in your mattress and bedding.
But as the floor ages the mortar between the tiles can chip out leaving space for the bugs. Carpet while i detest the product for hygiene reasons is a reasonable choice for excluding bed bugs. Therefore they are usually found near beds. Bed bugs might use your wooden floor to traverse your house but can also use those cracks to live and lay eggs inside.
To summarize bed bugs can infest wood but not severely as it s the case with beddings mattresses and couches. Instead they depend on cracks corners and other small spaces. Again as we said earlier bed bugs like to hide near their food source somewhere dark warm and secure. And the gaps between floorboards as well as the space behind baseboards offer the perfect shelter for the little vampire insects to mate and lay their eggs.
Hence the name bed bugs. Bed bugs don t chew through wood in search of a good hiding place. Still you need to look carefully for cracks in your wooden bed constructions or floors. Bed bugs are on the comeback primarily because of an apparent resistance to pesticides and because of more travel by people around the world.
Can bed bugs live in wood floor. Floorboards with cracks in them especially under the bed make good bed bug harborages. Unfortunately any exterminator will tell you that a wooden floor particularly hardwood floors is possibly the worst choice of flooring for a bed bug prone home or location. I have yet to find a harbourage on a carpet.
