Can I Drain My Washer Into Floor Drain
Clothes washer into floor drain.
Can i drain my washer into floor drain. My washer drains into a 1 drain utility sink. Over time lint and dirt can combine to clog. The only thing the code says is laundry sink branch drain or drainage stack. Draining a washer into a floor drain depends on where the floor drain connects.
The funny thing is i cant find wet pipes to see where the water came out of. Depending the drain size on your floor drain you can attempt a 2 inch pvc pipe at least 36 inches in length and where the pipe is to meet the drain remove the grate and try a bell reducer at the end. Any help would be greatly appreciated. For example if the floor drain connects to a sump pit that discharges the wastewater to the outside of the home then you can not drain your washing machine into the floor drain.
It usually drains without issue on occasion the water fills the sink and drains slowly and on a couple occasions the water from the sink decided to drain to my floor. Any thoughts out there fellas or any lady plumbers out there. One of my competitors proposed that he could simply run a drain pipe to the floor drain and cement around the drain. Truthfully there is no correct way of draining your washer into the floor drain other than a makeshift standpipe.
Could the floor drain be interpreted as as branch drain. Is it ok to run a pipe into a floor drain. Sorry for the confusion with the first post. A washer machine typically uses a 36 inch standpipe usually 2 inch pvc or so.
