Can you use a tens machine for pelvic floor. If you have read this far you will realize that the pelvic floor has an extensive array of muscles and connective tissues and is richly endowed with blood vessels and nerves making it highly responsive to assisted exercise using electrical stimulation. Otherwise if you do not need the machine for incontinence or pelvic pain you can use a general tens machine not a pelvic floor exerciser and use external self adhesive electrodes to place around the area of pain. Most experts feel that electrodes should not be placed on or near your genitals. Just using stimulation or doing pelvic floor exercises when lying down may not be enough.
I am quite happy with my unit. Biofeedback can be very helpful in teaching you how to activate you pelvic floor. There are even some tens units now out there that are solely intended for women with menstrual pain though i can t vouch for them personally. The tens machine uses a range of settings allowing you to choose which works best for you.
Tens treatment is an effective and safe way to treat pelvic floor muscles. These muscles need to work in a coordinated way in different positions. The study found that the women experienced significant improvement for chronic pelvic pain deep dyspareunia and quality of life by the use of tens. There is no conclusive evidence to prove that the use of the tens unit can help with erectile dysfunction.
The pelvic floor stimulation machines tend to use the lower settings in the preset programs pericalm pelvitone and continence whereas the obstetric machines use the higher end hz.
