Can you weld ceramic coated headers. I have a set of custom headers that were coated and i had to weld on them in a few spots. Are you sure of your filler. If the headers are made from normal mild steel and your mate cleans off the ceramic coating adequately then welding should be by normal means for mild steel. You would have to either chip wirewheel or grind the ceramic coating off. Yup this is the correct answer. Ignition timing and carburetor jetting can also cause the engine to run hot.
Anyways after a closer inspection they seemed to have been welded in a few places and then coated to make them look new. We recommend you use an old set of headers or manifolds for engine break in. Do not install your ceramic coated headers until after the engine is broken in and properly tuned. When you weld on the headers then you will have to send them back for stripping and a new coating of ceramic.
Cleaning ceramic with a grinder is a bit naughty. Which is far from ideal for mild steel nowhere near. At the leduc swap meet this year i bought some headers for my 4 0 exploder. Blue one aug 28 2020.
